On California’s breathtaking Central Coast, we’re surrounded by natural beauty that’s as inspiring as it is precious. Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword here – it’s a commitment that enhances our enjoyment of life’s pleasure, from the art of winemaking to the delight of wine tasting. As we celebrate Earth Month, join us on a journey through Paso Robles to discover how sustainability and passion intertwine to create unforgettable experiences and exceptional wines, all while taking good care of our planet. Book a Paso Robles wine tour and sip sustainably at these eco-friendly wineries:

Tablas Creek

Let’s start our journey with Tablas Creek Vineyard! Tablas Creek stands at the forefront of sustainability in the wine industry, setting a global standard with its Regenerative Organic Certification. This prestigious distinction is rooted in three essential pillars: soil health, animal welfare, and social fairness. The certification emphasizes building healthy soil through practices like cover cropping, crop rotation, and minimal tillage. It also ensures ethical treatments of animals and fair conditions for farm workers.

Tablas Creek is proud to be the only winery globally certified at this advanced level, setting a high standard for other wineries to follow. They are leading the charge towards a more sustainable and ethical future in the winemaking industry!

Castoro Cellars

Next up is Castoro Cellars where sustainability is a way of life and business that prioritizes preserving our natural environment and its invaluable resources. The tasting room, vineyards, and winery are equipped with custom solar installations tailored to offset the energy required for their operations, ensuring that they tread lightly on the planet while crafting great wines. Castoro Cellars’ latest endeavor involves embracing a new era of farming with a fleet of fully electric Monarch tractors. Not only do these tractors solely operate on battery power, but they work with GPS coordinates in order to minimize fuel consumption and emissions.

Vina Robles Winery & Amphitheatre

Then, we have Vina Robles Winery embracing sustainability through cutting-edge methods like stormwater management and roof water reclamation. Stormwater runoff is used for irrigating the vineyards during the Central Coast’s dry seasons. That’s not all –  water storage and distribution processes ensure eco-friendly ways to process water used in the winemaking process.

Not stopping at the winery, Vina Robles extends a commitment to sustainability to the Amphitheatre – a renowned destination for music and wine enthusiasts alike. The amphitheatre’s design includes a 4-acre green parking lot featuring deep-rooting turf and strategically placed flush curbs and drainage points. While you throw down your blanket, sip a glass of wine and sway to the music, event staff play a vital role in irrigation and maintenance of the parking lot. Vina Robles is paving the way for a rhythm that lets both the music and the environment play on for years to come!

Booker

And let’s not forget Booker Winery, where farming perfection meets environmental stewardship. Through certified organic farming practices and insights from biodynamics, Booker strives for the ideal balance in their vineyards. Their commitment to organic certification ensures that their products are free from pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, showcasing a deep respect for the land and the environment. This results in amazing wines, and also serves as a testament to their unwavering commitment to responsible farming!

Robert Hall

Pioneering sustainability since its inception, Robert Hall Winery holds official certification from the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance. With initiatives like their grower certification program and ISO14001 certification, they ensure sustainability permeates every aspect of their operations. Leading a living case study on regenerative viticulture and testing innovative solutions like a worm-powered wastewater system with BioFiltro, Robert Hall epitomizes environmental responsibility. Solar panel installations further underscore their commitment to renewable energy, offsetting 92% of peak season energy usage!
